The main Monolith is made of polished marble, around 6 feet tall, and about as wide as a man.

On the Original - A second piece of Granite of the same size and width but of shorter length is attached to the Monolith in the ground.  Two pieces of thin steel separate the two pieces of stone.  Solar Panels go on one side, computer parts and video screen, mouse and KB, all weatherproof go on the other side of the monolith.

The main Computer Core is either attached to the granite or is in a glass shell on top - because the computers and core are strangely beautiful.

We are now introducing the "T-Head" and "X-wing" Monoliths.

These use the standard 6 foot Monolith - that goes in the ground, but use only granite for their form to connect the 2nd piece of granite.
They also allow for upgrades using larger Motherboards in our Gordo and Chico Clusters.

There is video there of the Solar One Monolith which has been online since Jan 4, 2021 with no grid power or wired connections.
The main website for Newline Microservers is not up yet.   We have sold enough units to keep us busy for 3+ months.

Chico Class
2 to 8 Raspberry Pi 4Bs, or similar form factor computers
130 Watt Maximum power consumption
The Chico Class comes in a clear plexiglass case the size of a loaf of bread.

Gordo Class
8 to 48 Raspberry Pi 4Bs, or similar form factor computers
750 Watts per hour Maximum Power Consumption
PLA, Plastic, Plexiglass, CarbonFiber or Glass Computer Core
Gigabit Wired Switch with dual Uplink Ports (wire or fiber)

Indoor / Data Center Version
Outdoor / Solar Powered Monolithic Version

More details and specs coming soon:

Today it is covered in pollen.   Last night and the night before it weathered winter storms and power outages.

Our Solar One Monolithic Solar Supercomputer has been online with no grid electric or internet ties since January 4th, 2021.   It is powered by high effeciency solar panels which run the computers and charge the batteries during the day.  Then at night it runs of a large DC Battery.   It will run for 10 days or more on the battery with no solar input.

We sell 2 lines of these Monolithic Solar Supercomputers:
The "Chico" Class with 2 to 8 computers.

The "Gordo" Class with 8 to 48 Computers.

Each comes with its own  Gigabit Switch which has uplink ports if wire or fiber is preferred by the client. Each Monolithic Solar Supercomputer client also gets to select the granite, or marble Monoliths,  The computers and solar panels to attached to the Monolith which then goes into the ground for 2 feet, making the whole thing about 6 feet tall above ground.

By our calculations the Chico and Gordo Class Solar Monolithic computers make every data center on the planet obsolete.   Imagine a "data center" with no building costs, no electric bill, no air condioning bill and to heavy diesel power backup systems.

Which is better for making "Data Containers?" Gluster, OpenEBS or CEPH?

In this article we will compare the three sets of software for:

First Up is Open EBS:

OpenEBS is the most widely deployed and easy to use open-source storage solution for Kubernetes.

OpenEBS is the leading open-source example of a category of cloud native storage solutions sometimes called Container Attached Storage. OpenEBS is listed as an open-source example in the CNCF
Storage Landscape White Paper under the hyperconverged storage solutions.

Here is the link to that Whitepaper: https://github.com/cncf/sig-storage/blob/master/CNCF Storage Landscape - White Paper.pdf

OpenEBS Mayastor is the most recent version.
OS: Linux, Unix, any ix

Containers Supported:  kubernetes, rust, storage, k8s, nvme, pvc

Documents and White Pages https://github.com/openebs/openebs-docs

CEPF
Ceph uniquely delivers object, block, and file storage in one unified system.

CEPH OBJECT STORE
RESTful Interface
S3- and Swift-compliant APIs
S3-style subdomains
Unified S3/Swift namespace
User management
Usage tracking
Striped objects
Cloud solution integration
Multi-site deployment
Multi-site replication
CEPH BLOCK DEVICE
Thin-provisioned

Images up to 16 exabytes, Configurable striping, In-memory caching, Snapshots, Copy-on-write cloningKernel driver supportKVM/libvirt supportBack-end for cloud solutions

Incremental backup, Disaster recovery (multisite asynchronous replication)

CEPH FILE SYSTEM, POSIX-compliant semantics

Separates metadata from data, Dynamic rebalancing, Subdirectory snapshots, Configurable striping, Kernel driver support

FUSE support, NFS/CIFS deployable  Here is more from CEPH: https://docs.ceph.com/en/latest/  We will also take a look at Operating Systems and Chipset Compatibility.

Operating Systems to be tested include but are not limited to:  Windows, Linux, Apple, Droid
Chipsets on Processors: Intel, ARM, AMD and others.

GlusterFS or Gluster classic

GlusterFS is a scalable network filesystem suitable for data-intensive tasks such as cloud storage and media streaming. GlusterFS is free and open source software and can utilize common off-the-shelf hardware

Check back here soon for the full report.  Almost done.  Check back in a few days when we look at heat and energy consumerd
