Meta Quest 3 - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
For the past 6 months to a year, The Computer Dudes, Inc and I have been doing heavy research and development on VR and Mixed Reality Headsets
We were among the first people and companies to have done research and development on this hardware and Software. Computer Dudes does its own in house testing and evaluation which is our normal operating procedure
Evaluation: Meta Quest 3
Pros:
Smallest VR / Mixed Reality Headset with multiple sensors and cameras. The one we are using does Eye tracking.
Games are Fun - But Simple
Good for Research
Good for "Room" Creation
Works with Other Computers and Cell Phones (see further discussion below "Cons" list
Cons:
Weight
Battery - Based on Use the Minimum Battery Life can be less than 1 hour
Size - far to large and cumbersome.
Heat
Not for use Outside - not weatherproof. Probably not ready for Factory Floor
Fragile
Speed
Avoid Humidity
Can Use a large chunk of bandwidth.
Conclusions:
So far - The Computer Dudes, Inc. and I can only recommend the Meta Quest 2 and 3 for home, recreation, and data center use. We like of the games for they systems that help develop real life skills,
like working on your car, learning programming, or learning photography.
We also learned to "SideLoad" giving us access to all droid software and apps and addition to what Meta offers.
Soon: we will finish this evaluation of the Meta Quest 3. Then we will report on the Ray Ban Smart Glasses, then maybe the Oculus 2.
We hope to test Apples Smart Glasses next. We also want to test the HTC and Playstation 5 VR Mixed Reality.
Also, you can see photos of me, wearing the Meta Quest 3 headset - posted the on my LinkedIn profile: Todd W. Byars :)
